Vancouver Yoga Schools Review
There are many yoga schools and classes in the city of Vancouver. This number has expanded as yoga has become more and more trendy. The positive part of this is that there is a wide range of choices when searching for a yoga school, including different types of yoga, different teaching personalities, and classes for different budgets. However, this large number of choices can make choosing the best class even more confusing. There are a number of things to keep in mind when choosing the best yoga class for you, including your needs, physical limitations, and level of stress. It is also important to learn about the yoga teacher before choosing a class.

There are a number of different types of yoga; if you have a certain type or certain types of yoga in mind, you will want to ensure that your school offers it. The main types of yoga that you will see advertised include hatha, vinyasa, ashtanga, bikram, and restorative yoga. Hatha yoga involves a wide range of yoga types and is a fairly gentle type of yoga; this style of yoga is often recommended for beginners. Vinyasa yoga involves series of different poses, such as the sun salutation, and is more vigorous than hatha yoga. Ashtanga yoga is also known as power yoga, and focuses on quick flow between poses. This is one of the most vigorous types of yoga. Bikram yoga is also known as hot yoga and is practiced in a hot room to induce sweating. This is a more advanced type of yoga. Restorative yoga requires an instructor who guides your movements, with the goal being to open your body without straining. Be sure that you investigate what types of yoga the school offers, and look into specialty types of yoga, such as mother and baby yoga, if you are interested.
Be sure to consider your physical abilities when selecting a yoga school or a yoga class. If you are new to yoga, you may wish to try hatha yoga. If you have physical limitations, then restorative yoga may be a better choice for you. A school that offers a wide range of yoga styles is often a good choice, as you will be able to try different types of yoga and move up in difficulty. You may also wish to look for a school that offers additional types of exercise classes, such as Pilates or dance yoga. Be sure to ask about class times and prices, to ensure the school fits your schedule and budget.
Finally, be sure to enquire about the teachers and class sizes. Ask about the teachers’ training; generally, you want an instructor who has completed a 200-hour or 500-hour training program. It is also a good idea to ask how long the teacher has been practicing yoga and how long they have been teaching. Generally, you want a teacher who has been practicing yoga for at least five years and teaching for at least three years. Feel free to also ask about the teacher’s personal yoga practice and their teaching style. A good teacher will have their own daily yoga routine, and makes a point of constantly expanding their knowledge. Some teachers will remain in the front of the class demonstrating the poses, while other teachers will spend more time walking around to correct their students’ poses and provide encouragement and alternatives. Select a teacher that fits best with your learning style. Finally, ask about the class sizes. If you are advanced at yoga, you may enjoy a larger class size, whereas a beginner may be better with a smaller class, or even 1-on-1 private instruction.
